How to use your head

The motion of burden    view

Carrying things on your head is a widespread habit in Africa. The further away from the beaten track, the bigger and heavier the loads are. The lack of asphalted roads and motorised transport explain the appeal of this practice. But it is not as simple as that. Using your body as a swing, benefiting from gravity and moving with a straight back enables African women to put all their energy in moving forward. It seems that suitcases and backpacks are made for amateurs.
